Photography Workshop Weekend Program

The 4 weekend long workshop will help put to rest any fears you may have about the technicalities of the camera you use – be it a DSLR camera or a smart phone one. The aim is to have you equipped with adequate operational know-how, to take your photography to the next level and be confident of using your camera in the manual mode.

What will you gain through the workshop:

  • Learning to capture images you always wish to make.
  • Introduction to photography & the art of seeing.
  • Learn the importance of composition and timing.
  • Learn to choose the right type of camera.
  • Understanding the camera and how to handle equipment.
  • Learn Exposure: Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO, Metering and much more.

Course Outline:

Theory Sessions:

  • What makes a great picture? Introduction to Photography & the art of seeing.
  • The vital elements: Importance of composition and timing – the concept of the decisive moment.
  • Introduction to Fine Art Photography and other genres.
  • Choosing a camera and essential features of a DSLR, Point and Shoot camera and Smartphone cameras.
  • The Technique – Understanding your Camera and Handling Equipment.
  • The right way to hold a Camera and learning about your Dominant Eye
  • Exposure Demystified: Aperture > Shutter Speed > ISO > Metering
  • Manual Exposure and using the different exposure modes.
  • Focusing: Manual focusing and Auto focusing

Practical Sessions:

  • The right way to hold a Camera
  • Learning about your dominant eye
  • Shooting indoor in natural light using different exposures, apertures and camera modes
  • Shooting outdoor in natural light using different exposures, apertures and camera modes
  • Brain-Picking: Q&A session with the instructor
  • Review and Feedback of selected images taken during the workshop

Practice makes perfect and keeping that in mind, you will spend day two at an outdoor location. This is an activity-intensive day and you will get sufficient opportunity to apply the techniques learnt so far. You can clear any and all doubts you have regarding the workings of your camera during the questions round.

About the Instructor:

Samantha Williams, holds an experience of 10 years in professional photography. She believes in innovating with her skill and keep son learning from her endeavors. Having an advance diploma in the Photography from South Carolina University, she also possess natural talent and a keen eye for beauty. She has been providing photography skills training for amateurs and seasoned professional for the last 3 years.
